Part 1: Discover the charms of St. Lucia (23 minutes): In a documentary style we visit the following places: the capital Castries, Pigeon Island, Rodney Bay, Marigot Bay and JJ's, Soufrière, the Sulphur Springs, the Diamond Botanical Gardens, the Mini-Zoo and the Union Nature Trail, Gros Islet and the renowned 'Friday night street dance', and the Frigate Islands. The sportsman can enjoy sailing, horseback riding, wind surfing and scuba diving. We get carried away by the yearly carnival party, we bring the St. Lucian's in front of the camera with many more beautiful shots of this tropical island including a view of banana cultivation. All this blended with local Calypso music.

Part 2: Discover a number of medium to small selected places to stay (40 minutes): This part briefly shows 15 medium to small sized hotels and guest houses. The average presentation of each accommodation including its surroundings takes about 3 minutes. Customer comments   From Emma L H Baker (England) Having watched "St. Lucia - Emerald of the Caribbean" I am very excited about my forthcoming trip! The video managed to capture the atmosphere of St. Lucia - giving a good visual description of life on the island, not only from a tourist perspective but also that of everyday life for the local people. The video is extremely informative - giving details about the island's history, culture, places of interest, nature and wildlife. It gives details of social events and night life, and also the type of activities you can participate in during the day - if you have the inclination to leave the beautiful beaches ! Watching the video is in effect like having a personal tour guide in your living room ! The video not only describes what to expect from the island but also enables you to choose your accommodation - giving detailed information about many of the hotels on the island. This is much more useful than having to pour through hotel guide books and holiday brochures. The video did not give any indication of prices however. I was able to find out almost everything I needed to know about visiting St. Lucia and it was certainly an easy and interesting way to do so. It would have been useful to have been given a list of telephone numbers at the end of the video - e.g. St. Lucia Tourist Board, so that I could find the telephone numbers of the hotels mentioned, and also about visas, currency etc. This would also have been a good 'ending' to the video as it did rather come to a sudden end ! I was extremely impressed with the overall quality of the video and I felt that the script was well written. It was a pity that a more inspiring and interesting commentator was not chosen as this did rather distract me from completely enjoying the video. His voice was annoyingly monotonous.
